i agree with the critique you got from "ocean." unless the scan was supposed to be crooked and scanned like this, i would fix it...
i do like the sketchi-ness of the face and how you can tell the figure isn't happy with the view in the mirror...or they are wondering why other people wouldn't be happy with the view in the mirror...(people can be, and are cruel no matter what other people say!)
the gold might be a little too "old" for the sketch...a different color or black or something might add to the sketch in the mirror...good luck with it...
i like this and want to fav it but i think it needs to be corrected first (at least the scan so the edge isnt there!)

if you want me to clarify anything i can...it helps me in the art world also since im will be an art educator in a few months!

personal work is open to intrepretation. if that work was supposed to be like it was then it works...but if, for example, it was just a crooked scan, then it might be received better if fixed...

meanings and how people view them are part of what makes art fun!

the idea of it it being thrown together
is just to sort of back up what it means to me

its just a blurb.
its like writing down a little note.

this isnt supposed to be something refined and perfect
its just what it is you know?

i cropped it so it was centered and the middle of my book
happened to fall into it.. i did not to any other fixing up to it
although im thinking about adding some contrast to darken up the middle
but well see

that is good to know about this particular image...it changes the meaning of it drastically. but, that is, like i said, part of the art! it would be interesting to see how you darken the middle of it...it might change it again...
